What is Personal Development
What is Personal Development, Why Is It Important And Why It Might Not Work For You…
What is personal development exactly and why is it that it doesn’t seems to work for you no matter what you do.
Is it a luxury, a should, or a must when you have to move career or change relationships? Or is it for those who seems to have “issues” or suffer from something?
Or is it something that happens constantly on a subconscious level? Are we growing each and every day? If we are NOT growing each and every day can we notice that in some way like feeling unfulfilled?
Watch my next video to find out and discover how you can take your personal development to a whole new level!
So aren’t we are on this blue rock to grow, experience the deepest aspects of our soul and express ourselves in the most authentic way?
Well that’s the way I would like to look at it. So far personal development has been a activity for those who wish to gain Earthly experiences and accomplishments. Which is off course totally fine. In matter of fact “your thing” is not really about you thing but merely a vehicle to grow as a human BEING. Which is something I learned during that online masterclass with Vishen Lakhiani.
Have you noticed that I said Human Being and not Human Doing? Our activities always makes us feel in a certain way. Even our achievements makes us feel a certain way. And the space in between when we enjoy a moment of doing absolutely nothing!
So long story short eventually it’s all about your State of Being which includes your thinking, feeling, believes and self image.
If some of these are out of alignment. Meaning your Being doesn’t resonate with your Doing then you got some work to do. You can change your activities, environment, social relationships etc which can make you feel a bit different sometimes and for some time. But when these old aching feelings come up then you can keep changing our external factors but sometimes you have to just be with yourself to gain awareness over yourself.
Why is Personal Development so important then?
I mean you can go the Gary Vaynerchuck way and hustle your ass off which will get you some results, but will it last? Will happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction and so on really last or not?
For sure I had my moments when I worked my freaking ass off because I wanna to prove my worth through accomplishments. But then when I was finally making over 5 figures a month, drove my Audi around Europe I faced again my deep feelings of emptiness. What’s next I asked myself?
So for me it became clear that there is not really any kind of final destination when we have it “all together.” There is always a next level for learning, growth and sharing. Because fulfillment comes from contributing.
However if our natural state of being is giving but we cannot feel like doing that because of some sort of lack believe then you know something has to change. That change is off course that you must realize it HAS to happen. Then just like a “should” but more like a MUST.
It MUST change because you cannot bare any longer the pain of dissatisfaction or whatever it is you do not longer want to experience. This is the moment your soul is calling you for growth.
So why and when does personal development not work?
If I am preaching personal development all the time then why is it that personal development don’t work all the time?
The thing it’s not like personal development doesn’t work. It’s because we don’t practice it regular enough. Or our EGO expects instant results or has to many expectations. We then start to judge and blame things and surrender to our victim mode.
Our identity or self image has been formed over the many years of gathering life experiences. You keep on projected the ideas you have about life into the present moment with the expectation it will become your future as well. So you either live in the past or in the future.
Personal development is meant to change the way you think and feel about yourself, your actions or certain situations. It’s a change in personal identity or self image.
Now your ego (survival mechanism) will do whatever it takes to stay the same. It’s meant to keep you safe and secure. Venturing into the unknown doesn’t feel like a safe and secure thing to do because of all the uncertainty that may happen. However your soul and spirit will really thrive in gathering new experiences and growing.
Personal development will work when you start to listen to your intuition or higher self that wants to point you into various new directions. But again your ego will do whatever it takes to distract you from doing so. So everyday will be a new challenge to evolve beyond your survival mechanism and choose to follow what FEELS right to you.
