How Do You Know When You Are On a Shamanic Journey

How Do You Know When You Are On a Shamanic Journey? Here Are 12 Signs You Might Be On A Shamanic Journey…

In the last week of December just after I completed my video in Avebury about the Winter Solstice I traveled to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands in Scotland. For those, we don’t know, the history of Nothern Scotland is absolutely incredible. From the numerous sacred sites dating from the Neolithic age (over 4000 years ago). To the invasion and settlements of the Vikings and of course the rich history of the Highlanders/Jacobites during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Inverness is a popular place by those who fell in love with the series Outlander. Which was all about the Highlanders and the wars against the English government (The redcoats). A few shots I took in my next video were taken on filming locations of Outlander. Hope you can recognize some ;-).

Anyway, in this post let’s reflect on the shamanic journey. How do you know when you are on a shamanic journey without even knowing it?

In my next video, I share 12 signs that could reveal if you are on this shamanic journey yourself. Maybe right now many things in your life don’t make any sense which could explain why.

How Do You Know When You Are On a Shamanic Journey? The 12 Signs Revealed:

The Identification of a Shaman or someone who is on a shamanic journey.

Let’s first reflect on what exactly is a shamanic journey. You can either follow a shamanic journey channeled by a shaman through a trance state. The shaman can perform a ritual through sound or natural medicine like ayahuasca where the person goes into an alternate state of consciousness.

I only have followed shamanic journeys into different realms following the vibration of sound. Such as shamanic drumming sessions. These sessions contain a vibrational frequency channeled by the shaman that can open doors to different states of consciousness. Like a meditation state.

The other shamanic journey I talk about is the lifelong path of learning and developing. The journey of the soul that is healing trauma both from this life and previous lives. But also trauma from the collective and the trauma stored in the spirit of mother nature. We can also call this path, the journey of a planetary healer.

For now, I just want to focus on the shamanic journey as a spiritual healing path. For remembering your purpose here on planet earth. Perhaps as a way to offer something to humanity, the planet, or just for your own spiritual healing journey.

How can you identify a person who is a shaman?

The journey of shamanism is actually quite the opposite of building yet another personal identity or spiritual ego. Sure, as humans walking around in our physical dimension it is quite important to have a strong and powerful Self Image. As long as this self-image is in complete alignment, balance, and harmony with the True Authentic Self.

Unfortunately, many of us have developed a personal identity or self-image that is more connected with the False Self or the Ego. Which has everything to do with our survival and individualistic needs, wants, and desires. Because deeply we feel something is missing or lacking from our lives. Therefore we must accumulate something or take away something from others and our outside world.

But what this actually means is that we are missing the connection with Spirit. Some realization, feeling, awareness, and deeper knowing that we are part of something bigger.

So when we talk about the “identification of a shaman” we can sure talk about the way they can look according to some traditions. But none of that stuff really matters to the real core and truth of the shamanic path. Yes, tools for divination can all be part of this. But just like a builder use a hammer to build a house. At the essence, you must be a builder first. For the shaman, this must be the awakening of the spiritual heart and the connection to the Spirit.

How To Become A Shaman?

It’s probably not really a career choice you made when you came out of high school. Like so many, you probably picked a career that promised some kind of financial security. Or a career path that some friends picked as well.

You probably sold a part of your True Authentic Self to the idealogy of capitalistic ideals. To only find out many years or decades later that “something is missing.” Perhaps you start to think that something is wrong with you or why you can’t experience any meaning, purpose, gratitude, or fulfillment in life.

Sure you can tell yourself to be grateful for all the comforts and luxuries you have but still, it’s not enough. You know that more of these comforts won’t solve anything you feel is lacking.

Perhaps you start to research and explore where this discontentment is coming from. Could it originate from your childhood? Was it emotional abuse or perhaps even emotional neglect? Something had to happen but it didn’t?

Or does it come from space and time where there was a large amount of suffering and trauma that is parallel to your current life? Like a past life or even a collective memory.

This is where the shamanic journey or ancestral healing begins. Even soul retrieval can play a role as well. In a matter of fact, that’s really what we are talking about.

Creating a Place to Re-member is all about remembering and reconnecting with that place in our heart and soul we have buried away in order to cope with the challenges of modern life.

Sign 1; Separation of The True Self.

The shamanic journey is therefore really about the death of the ego (False Self) and reconnecting with our True Self.

We were all born with a purified heart and soul of pure light love consciousness. Born way too early and born in imperfect and most likely emotionally immature families.

As a young and open souls, we were the closest to Source Consciousness as we knew exactly what was right for us. We were more in touch with unconditional love and we knew exactly what we needed and want.

Then we get through our upbringing, the school system, societal conditions, disappointments, “failures”, losses, adulthood, financial responsibilities, and everything we must experience in this human life. How older we become how more of these memories we collect in our backpack and how more stuff we drag with us.

This process could cause we are only moving further and further away from this childish joy we once were so connected with. Instead, we have developed a mask or a facade on how we think others should perceive us in order to be socially accepted in an already broken world.

Hence, so many of us feel depressed, anxious and are going through this whole personal identity crisis thing. In a matter of fact, feeling depressed could also mean is that our body, mind, and soul need a rest from “that version” we do no longer wish to be.

We are seeking a place “called home”, but this ain’t really a place in our outside world. It’s more of a state of being, a feeling, experience, or a deeper knowing that we feel connected to something bigger than us. It goes beyond any words spoken by the rational mind.

Sign number 2; Lighting strikes from Source penetrating through your False Self.

To become a shaman in ancient cultures they had to go through a certain death. Going to the “other world” in order to come back and become the “bridge” they had to become.

In modern times this can also refer to breaking down the layers of your egocentric self. The coping mechanism of your individualistic needs for survival. It’s that False Self that creates separation between your own nature and the nature around you. And the separation between your True Self and Spirit.

The Lightning Strike also refers to a sudden awakening, an insight, or a realization. An upgraded awareness of reality and a deeper knowledge of existence. It’s like you remember a deeper Truth of your entire existence.

Sign 3; you have already visited many sacred sites without knowing you have been to sacred sites.

If you haven’t read my personal story yet you know that for a personal reason I had this major pull to go to Peru back in 2007. Of course, as a young guy in my early twenties, I had my obvious reasons.

After I came back from Machu Picchu in the Andes to The Netherlands my entire perception had changed. This is exactly what I mean under Sign number 2; these sudden awakenings.

These sudden awakenings or realizations can be far away from pleasant. Yes at this moment you can experience a euphoria like you are closer to Source. But as soon as you “come back” to your human experience things can become a bit shaky. You “suddenly” lose long-term relationships, marriage, become unemployed, struggling financially, or have other dis-eases.

The many ancient sacred sites around the globe contain a vibrational frequency that can feel like it’s coming down from another world. It’s like “coming home” for a moment. They were built by our ancient ancestors for a reason which for many is still unclear. When you are a very intuitive and sensitive soul you will have a deeper understanding and knowing why they were built there and why they are so important for us.

Sign number 4; the connection to nature.

Spending your time in nature is like having your breakfast. This is the place where you get your daily energy from, your insights and inspiration of that what you must communicate to the world (or just keep it to yourself).

If it was up to you, you just spend your entire day in the outdoors without “having to try to brand yourself on social media.” That is just like another thing we must do in our digital modern way of living. Social media will probably drain you more than it gives you energy. Hence, your time for self-reflection in nature is very much needed.

This realization that you need nature can evolve over time especially when modern life has brought you to one of our major cities.

Overly dense and populated areas make you actually feel a bit “home-sick.” And by now you should probably already know what I mean with that place we “call home” right?

Sign number 5; The split in consciousness. Both legs are in two different worlds.

You can often feel a bit spacious or ungrounded. You do not really feel you fit in our modern way of living. And you already know you were not designed to fit in. You are here to build a new kind of world.

The trauma you have once experienced has created an alternate reality in your mind. This was all part of your early development of opening up to different realms. Yes, many scientific studies might prove otherwise and that it’s all part of our imagination. but doesn’t all creation starts with imagination? Picture an image in our mind first before we call it in our existence?

Sign number 6; Building the bridge between our human existence and the spiritual realms.

The human race has been stuck in lower states of survival consciousness for many eons. Hence, the suffering we have experienced so far. Our role evolves more in bringing the spiritual together with the physical. Moving beyond the illusion of separation.

When we embark on this journey we can create more meaningful, compassionate relationships grounded in unconditional love. We can develop purposeful careers that work on collective wellbeing.

By creating a deeper understanding of the laws of nature we can evolve beyond the need of our current power struggles and the need for manipulation.

Becoming one with nature can help us to evolve to create technology that does not harm our natural habitat but works with it.

So far we have created all our urban environments and infrastructures straight through the ecosystems of the Earth. Those who had the power (money) did what they believed was right. Against all the favors who stood against the ideals of capitalistic interest.

Sign number 7; Your interest in mythology and the mystical things of life.

You don’t watch a fantasy movie or series as a fantasy. You see it has a documentary with stunning visual effects because it’s based on myth and mystics. You also believe that these myths symbolize a deeper universal truth translated through stories.

Besides; you find our mundane way of living way too boring anyway.

You want to know what kind of wisdom and knowledge our ancient tribes used to have. What is it that they used to believe? Could their wisdom and knowledge help us in our day-to-day lives?

Sign number 8; Living on the edge of civilization.

When we are developing ourselves in our shamanic journey we can have a deeper and stronger longing to move away from all the noise and distractions. We want to live closer and surrounded by nature because that’s where we belong and feel connected. That’s the place we can call home as we can listen closely to the whispers of Spirit.

It’s up to us what we do with it. Do you want to write, create videos, publish a book, or hold events and workshops for only a select few?

Some of us even want to move further up north where the winters are longer and colder. Winters represent also time for self-reflection and going deeper within.

Sign number 9; losing interest in capitalistic endeavors.

We know what’s like to build wealth and have success whether in this life or another. Chasing money just for the sake of having more money and becoming a bigger consumerist is not really something that has your interest.

For you, wealth and making money are more a means to an end. The end goal is of course your own shamanic healing journey. Be able to live closer to nature, and have the freedom and independence to do what you have to do. Without being dependent on the system.

You don’t go into shamanism because you think it could be a trendy thing to do and sell to the masses. You either made your money elsewhere in order to support your shamanic journey or live a simple and basic life.

Of course, you can offer shamanic healing workshops and events for a fee. Just like people need to pay for any kind of professional service. But don’t expect to get rich from it. Unless you invest and learn about crypto for example.

Sign number 10; Living in solitude.

As a highly sensitive, empathic, and introverted soul, you prefer solitude over a very active social life. You find too many social interactions a bit draining and superficial anyway. You would rather be with your own mind so you can work closely with the messages you receive.

Sign number 11; Your Life Path Number is a 9. The final stages of learning and developing.

A few months ago when I was in the Netherlands I made a video that goes deeper into the meaning of living on a life-path number 9.

But when you look at the pyramid of Maslow you see what matters most to you is Self Actualization. You would rather focus more on that than all the other things.

Sign number 12; one of many lessons and challenges you must learn.

You are the teacher of wisdom. An old soul who has experienced already so many life lessons that you can now easily guide others.

When you stay focused on your cause and mission you will come across your final stages of learning and developing. Trust that the Universe has your back and allows abundance to flow without having to chase anything.

This goes beyond any logic of course. But much more our own ego-centric needs for survival. So often we can feel ignored, isolated, and separated from Spirit. That’s when desperation can kick in and the suffering continues. We can feel the lack and need for something and start all over again with the process of “re-membering.”
